Messy Polka Dots & Memorial Day Weekend Haul

May 29, 2012

Since early this year, my fascination with stripes has grown into a full blown obsession with polka dots.

I have been lusting over this Gap wrap dress (which is so DVF in my opinion) since it first hit the shelves. A few weeks ago, I found it on sale for $54.99 (the original price must have been $60-65.) I wear dresses practically on a daily basis so spending $55 on yet another dress seemed impractical.

I waited for there to be a discount off sale items. Gap always has discounts off sale items but this month, they really have not been showing customers the love. In the past, almostĀ  every single time I walked into the store, there would be at least an additional 15%, 20%, 30% or even 40% off sale items. Starting about a month ago, I called the store every few days to check if there was such a deal for that day or weekend with no luck. The dress was also sold out online so there was no chance there.

Finally, last Friday, there was some good news: 30% off women’s sale, 40% off Gap Body sale and 40% off kids’ sale! There were also tons of others items on sale around the store like 50% off swimsuits and 40% off sandals.

With the additional 30% off, I scored the dress for $38.49 in a petite x-small (perfect fit.) I also grabbed a few DVF kids items for dirt cheap and I was able to purchase two of my all time favorite bras for just $13 a piece. I also got the beaded sandals I had been wanting for almost half off.

Aside from the wrap dress, here are a few others items I picked up..

Beaded T-Strap Flip Flops $23.97 from $39.95

I have been aching for a pair of beaded sandals to spruce of my summer wardrobe for a few months now and when Gap debuted their newest additions, a few pairs were immediately placed on my wishlist. I also really, really wanted the metallic stone sandals in the red/coral colors but they were sold out.

Favorite Lace Push-Up Bra $13.19 from $39.95

My favorite bras are from Gap. And my favorite of all their bras is this bra right here. It supports the girls while being comfortable and looking pretty and is not overly padded like its Victoria’s Secret cousins. And the price is a steal considering that VS bras on sale are usually still $30 and up.

Girls Mint Dress $14.98 from (I think) $39.95 (this is a size large but there was a size x-large tag on it so I someone may have switched the tags!)

I really loved the color and the tulle peeking out at the bottom of this dress. It fits but it is very short and a little snug at the armpits. I plan to either make a skirt out of this or cut off the sleeves and refashion it into a halter dress.

Girls DVF T-Shirt Dress $7.19 from$45

I love this! I really wish that Diane Von Furstenberg had designed a women’s line with Gap as well because her prints and designs are absolutely fabulous. Luckily, I am on the shorter/smaller side so I was able to squeeze into some of the larger kids clothing. I grabbed this T-Shirt dress which looks super cute as a mini and sho

Girls DVF Romper $14.39 from $55

I actually bought this romper over a month ago and returned it (thinking the price was too high.) As you can see, the romper is too short for me and would cause quite the wedgie. I was really hoping that it would fit because I love the color and design but it would never work unless it could somehow be stretched a few inches. I have decided to cut out the bottom and just wear this as a top.

Girls DVF Printed Wrap Dress $23.39 from $65

I also purchased this DVF wrap dress about a month ago but never blogged about it. While it is way too short to be a dress on me, I love it as a top paired with leggings and flats.

Other then my Gap purchases, I sat at this Memorial Day weekend and did not indulge in the gigantic sales. I did stop by to return something at the mall and it was crazy hectic INSANE.

Did you score any good deals this holiday weekend? What are your favorite purchases?

Is the “Girls Mint Dress” too young for us (I mean it’s kinda childish)? I love that dress, too. Hope to see a real image that you’re wearing it.

I agree. That’s why I want to alter it and make it a skirt or alter the top and make it into some sort of halter but I haven’t decided yet. I just love the tulle at the bottom.
